A GAC meeting was held on Sunday, 16 October 2022 to discuss the state of the wing and more. The meeting was attended by the eminent council led by the G100-MAC Global Chair - Dr Alex Okoroji and kicked off with welcoming a new member, Shilpi Shah into the Global Council as the Director of Marketing.
The Global Chair explained that the vertical council for Marketing will also extend to the CAC replacing the role 'Director of Social Media', since all social channels will be collapsed into one global channel per platform, representing all countries in the entire global wing. Also the role for 'Director of Membership' role will be replaced with 'Director of Administration' across the Country Advisory Council for better synergy with the Global Advisory Council.
The deliberations were focused on ways to support the different G100-MAC country clubs to thrive. Frankie Picasso, Director of Communication who joined the meeting from Canada talked about the importance of improving visibility for G100 and the wing and why it is necessary to get the word out about the enormous actvities and plans of the G100 Club. She also talked about creating onboarding communication to enlighten new leaders in the wing. Some of the suggestions included creating a standardized operation across the sector that could be tweaked to support different country context.
The Global Chair mentioned she was putting together a more streamlined onboarding manual to support Country Chairs who needed clarity, support and direction for their day to day execution, and that she plans to request a monthly report from their Country Meetings to enable the GAC function better. She also suggested the GAC Council directors could also provide a structure or guide to enable Country Directors in the same CAC vertical councils function in synergy.
Nana Karikari, Director of Administration agreed, however suggested a better way was to gather input from the monthly reports sent from Country Chairs and the Country Advisory Council (CAC) to enable the GAC develop a concrete working guide that meets the country club needs.
Stella Damasus, Director of Content who joined the meeting from Atlanta, USA agreed that both ways could work. Having a general working guide and also creating further specifics tailored to different countries was both necessary as some leaders still need a general template and guidance to hit the ground running. She also talked about having an annual or monthly theme for the entire network that may drive the focus of the contents created by the wing as well as enable the Content Council to create an effective content calendar.
Dixie Gillaspie, Director of Projects & Events, also suggested that the reports requested could include a standard survey for the different country clubs as the information gathered will be helpful to understand how each country addresses the same issues and what specific challenges they encounter to enable the GAC support them.
Cresta Durojaiye, Director of Operations agreed that an onboarding manual was important to layout expectations and specific obligations to support the Country Chairs in their Day to Day execution of the sector's mandate and she would take full responsibility and work together with the Global Chair and the Director of Administration to develop an operating document.
The GAC went on to discuss the G100-ELLEGOOSE Model and how some of the activities and G100-MAC projects already align with a number of the elements of the model.
They discussed the upcoming G100-West Africa meeting and Women Economic Forum-West Africa both happening from 5-10 March 2023 and laid out some highlights which includes the 100 women that will receive a G-Woman Medal of Honour at the International Women's Day (IWD) Opening Ceremony sponsored by G-Woman Media and supported by the G100 Media Arts & Communication wing. They also discussed their Partnership Projects including a release date for the first issue of the G-Woman Magazine, which features Dr Harbeen Arora Rai, founder of G100 on the cover.
They also talked about Dr Alex Okoroji's vision for G-Woman Media, the equity crowdfunding goal, a proposed vesting opportunity and 100 seats available for women partners, empowering the company's main mission to provide ownership and media platforms to enhance the visibility and voices of women through its magazine, radio and tv projects.
Clara Rufai, Director of Strategy & Research said the G-Woman Media Partnership project made sense and there was no reason for the members not to support the vision as it is important for their collective legacy and mandate.
